Gareth Nuttall-Smith

Growing up in Botswana, I developed a passion for wildlife and nature from a young age. Now, I find myself studying towards my Masters in Zoology as a post-graduate in the Department of Zoology and Entomology at Rhodes University. I completed my honours degree in African Vertebrate Biodiversity and, as this suggests, my primary focus is on African mammals. Although mammals are my field of study, I enjoy birding and have a fascination for some of the smaller yet no less charismatic species, such as Dragonflies. Having spent a fair bit of my time in the bush, I’ve developed a passion for photography. Through photography I have the opportunity to capture the unique things I see on a day-to-day basis and share them with others. By sharing our stories and images, this site aims to broadcast our often misunderstood field. And so, we invite you into the fascinating world of a studying zoologist.
