Bocage's Tree Frog (Leptopelis bocagei). Although there name may suggests they are found in trees, they are quite comfortable on the ground, where they can often be found searching for mates and food. @intotheokavango
Sundevall's Shovel-snout (Prosymna sundevalli). This enigmatic creature is easily distinguishable from other snakes because of its snout and distinctive body and head colouration. It is also unique in its choice of food as it specialises on reptile eggs, and more specifically gecko eggs. When threatened these snakes are known to coil into a spring and pulse their bodies violently in hopes of warding off would be predators.
First bibrons gecko (Chondrodactylus bibronii) for the year. Being in Grahamstown, I don't often see this robust species of gecko, so it was quite a treat last Saturday when I picked this one up near Alicedale. Thanks to @the_life_of_fly for taking the photo.
Plain squeeker (Arthroleptis xenochirus) from eastern Angola. This enigmatic creature has enormous toes on its front foot that makes it easy to identify for even the most novice of froggers. These toes are most likely used in male-to-male combat or in mating. This frog was found whilst on expedition with @intotheokavango last year.
